Okay, you’re engaged. Now what?
You may be the hands-on type, preferring to plan every minute detail of your own wedding yourself. Or you may be the hands-off type, delegating the heavy lifting to a professional wedding planner.
Regardless of which type of bride-to-be you are, there is one aspect of the wedding planning process that will stump the most meticulous of us.
Think of it this way. When people describe wedding planning, the first thing that comes to mind are the endless spreadsheets – budgeting, tracking, assigning, scheduling, organizing, etc. But these tasks are concrete items that can be managed using the analytical parts of our brain. What’s actually most challenging are the abstract parts of the wedding which may take days, weeks, or months to cultivate in our minds: What do you want your wedding to look like?
This is where it gets tricky. You now have to suddenly open your mind to every little thing around you; to absorb your environment and pinpoint the aspects you want in your wedding. And I can tell you, it’s not something that can be delegated to someone else. It doesn’t matter if you’re planning it yourself or have help from others, you personally will have to explain to the decorator or florist what kind of wedding theme you would like. And you will notice many conversations with these professionals will include phrases such as, “Sort of like this” or “I want this kind of feel” or “I really can’t describe it”. Not to worry, it happens quite often.
But…
Not to worry! To help you jump start this arduous journey, here is an exciting website just to address this challenge:
Pinterest is a new up and coming website in which users can actually “pin” a photo they like online and it immediately goes into their accounts. Think of it as a virtual pinboard.
After you open your free account (currently it’s by invitation only), all you need to do is install the Pin It button on the bookmarks toolbar in your browser and you’re ready to go!
From now on, whenever you see something online you like, just click the Pin It button and it will be automatically saved into one of your customized categories in your Pinterest account.
To help give you some ideas, we’ve created a few online inspiration boards on our account. Just click the button below:
Having this tool at your disposal will help you gather your ideas in one spot so you can have more productive meetings when speaking with your decorator or florist, and can cut many hours out of the planning process. For an invitation, please contact me.
Enjoy!
Love,
Carmen
